Welcome to Direct Spex
Who are we?
Direct Spex Ltd are an independent optical dispensers, not part of any large multiple, we have just the one shop in Fareham, Hampshire.
We do not conduct eye examinations. Because of this, our overheads are lower (we do not have to employ an optometrist or hire expensive sight-testing equipment) and we pass these savings on to you.
Direct Spex opened in May 2002, with the mission statement ‘Seeing Clearly at the Right Price’. Our aim now, as it was then, is to provide quality glasses and good old fashioned customer service at an affordable price.
Let's look at an example...
Here in Fareham, you can buy standard D28 bifocals from any of the High Street Opticians. Within this half mile radius you can be quoted as much as £90 for these lenses, Direct Spex price: £29.00!
The Well Kept Secret
The regulations governing the sale of prescription glasses changed some years ago, to encourage people to shop around at no risk to themselves. The aim of this is to combat ever-increasing spectacle prices, bringing the price of spectacles down to acceptable limits as optics enters the retail world.
So, just as you choose which Chemist makes up you prescription, it’s now exactly the same for your glasses. The difference is that not all opticians charge the same amount for the same products. There is quite often a BIG difference!
If you are not sure what you want, pop in for a chat and discuss your needs with our experienced staff!
